Love That Surpasses Knowledge

apostolic prayers

I pray that you may…know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. Ephesians 3:19

This verse is a continuation of Paul’s prayer from the last blog. We wrote on how  believers may be fully able to grasp the love of Christ. In this part of the prayer, Paul is praying that you do not only grasp it with the mere human mind, but through practical and personal experience for yourself.

Experiencing the love of God for yourself, far surpasses mere knowledge without experience. We are all called to seek God with all of our heart and mind and grow in knowledge of the truth, yet, in order to be filled with the fullness of God, one must personally experience the love of Christ.

In human terms, it’s like any relationship, you could know facts about someone, their name, where they live, etc. but it’s a whole other thing for you to connect with someone on a deep and personal level, and experience their love in a faithful relationship. How much more is this true with God, who never changes, is always loving, faithful, cares for us beyond measure and sent his Son to make the way for us to have a perfect union with him?

God gives us the privilege of knowing the love of Christ. What a rich invitation that is!

We encourage you to pray for others to know the love of Christ in a deep and personal way. This is something you can practically do for yourself, your loved ones and even your enemies every day.

We pray his love would comfort, restore, strengthen and in every way sustain you.
