Live In The Light

apostolic prayers

…always thanking the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance that belongs to his holy people, who live in the light. Colossians 1:12

In this life, varying situations, difficult circumstances and feelings of all sorts can  distract believers to lose sight of what the Father has done through sending his Son. Usually, no one wakes up thinking, “Today, I want to lose sight of what God has done for me”. However, unless believers stay on guard and intentionally focus on the truth, this can unintentionally happen more easily than you would think. Letting your focus stray away from what God has done can cause you to live in a place of lack and deception.

This prayer is a reminder that believers are always called to thank God the Father, because of all he has done through Christ to qualify them to share in the inheritance that belongs to his holy people. His holy people live in the light.

Taking focus off of him who is the Light can result in your mind being covered in darkness. This does not necessarily mean that you are “evil” or “un-saved”, but rather that you are not seeing clearly and experiencing the true light of life.

Jesus taught, “The eye is the lamp of the body. So, if your eye is healthy, your whole body will be full of light, but if your eye is unhealthy, your whole body will be full of darkness…” (Matthew 6:22-23) Jesus is teaching that the way you see, directly affects the way you live.

We encourage you to take time in prayer and reflection to see if you have been living in a place where you are always thanking God for what he has done, or if life’s feelings and circumstances have caused your focus and heart to drift away from how God sent his Son to remove all your sins, give you eternal life and restore you back to who he originally created you to be.

As you do this, allow the Holy Spirit to minister to you wherever you are and help you take the next step forward to growing more in Christ.

You are deeply loved by God and he longs for you to have the abundant life that he made available.
