God of Peace

apostolic prayers

Now may the God of peace himself sanctify you completely, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. He who calls you is faithful; he will surely do it. 1 Thessalonians 5:23-24

We are excited to look into this prayer and hope you are deeply encouraged by it.  We thank you for taking the time to read this.

Throughout the prayers we’ve been looking into from Paul, he has referred to God as the God of hope, all comfort, endurance, encouragement and now the God of peace. What an awesome joy and honor to know that as believers, we belong to the God who is the source of all these!

Sin produces all sorts of turmoil and despair in this world and in people’s lives, but the God of peace sanctifies those who believe in him and produces an ever increasing purity and holiness in their lives. That holiness and purity replaces the sin that brings turmoil with peace from God.

God’s heart is to make your entire being – body, soul and spirit – set apart for him so that when Christ returns you can be blameless before him. Believers must participate with God in this process through obedience, faith, repentance, humility and surrender, yet it is the faithfulness of God that ultimately gives the power to accomplish this work. Remember, he is the one who called you.

We encourage you to keep coming to God in prayer, opening every part of your being to him and inviting the Lord to sanctify you completely!
