Every Good Thing

apostolic prayers

Now may the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen. Hebrews 13:20-21

Scripture describes the peace God gives us as peace that surpasses all understanding.  This peace is a beautiful and rich gift of God’s love! Yet, God’s peace is not only expressed through the inner peace he gives to those who trust in him, he has also given us peace with himself and placed us in a reconciled relationship with him where we’ve been given the right standing of Christ.

For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in Christ, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross. Colossians 1:19-20

and again,

…Since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ…” Romans 5:1

Through Jesus’ death and resurrection, God established an eternal covenant with those who believe in Jesus. In that covenant, God’s heart is to equip believers with every good thing needed to do his will. What an awesome God! He not only sent his Son to die on the cross to forgive our sins, but he also raised his Son from the dead so that through Jesus’ resurrection life believers can receive the grace that flows richly through Christ and be empowered to be all that God made them to be in this life for his glory.

The author of Hebrews is praying God would do whatever work needs to be done in his people so that their lives are pleasing and honoring to him. This should stir a deep heart cry in you for God to strip out everything that is not of him and to build up in you everything that is from him.

We encourage you to continually cry out for God to have his way in your life and to transform you to look like Christ in every area for his eternal glory.
