Prayer Themes

apostolic prayers

As we’ve been looking more into Paul’s prayers, we’ve noticed multiple strong recurring themes. These themes demonstrate  what was of great importance to Paul’s heart and are a great learning point for us all.

Below we’ve listed a few, but we haven’t been exhaustive.

Our heart in sharing this list is that you will be reminded of these powerful biblical themes and be freshly stirred on to include them in your prayer life for yourself and others.

Paul is consistently praying for the believers to be filled with:

  • Endurance, Encouragement and Unity (Romans 15:5-6, Colossians 1:11)
  • Joy and Peace (Romans 15:13, Colossians 1:11)
  • Hope (Romans 15:13, Ephesians 1:18)
  • Power by the Holy Spirit (Romans 15:13, Ephesians 1:19; 3:16, 20, Colossians 1:11)
  • Spiritual Wisdom, Insight, Discernment, Understanding and Revelation (Ephesians 1:17, 18; 3:17-19, Philippians 1:9, Colossians 1:9)
  • Deeper Knowledge of God (Ephesians 1:17; 3:19, Colossians 1:9-10)
  • Trust and Faith (Romans 15:13, Ephesians 3:17)
  • Love (Ephesians 3:17-19, Philippians 1:9)

We pray as you continue to develop a deeper and more intimate prayer life with the Lord, you will also grow in all of these areas to the glory and praise of God. Amen.
