Overcoming the Mindset of Lack

God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that always having all sufficiency in everything, you may have an abundance for every good deed. 2 Corinthians 9:8

We have been sharing insights about overcoming the mindset of lack, and our prayer is that  you’ve been growing in trusting God and experiencing freedom.

Through writing these, we’ve been reminded how dear and close this topic is to our hearts because God has given us personal breakthrough in this area.

When Iam got back from India and Nepal in the summer of 2016, all of a sudden she began struggling with feeling lack in every area, although there was circumstantially no reason to be feeling that way. As she was crying out to God to reveal what this was all about, God showed that she was unintentionally entertaining the feelings and thoughts of lack instead of guarding against them and recognizing that it was a scheme of the enemy.

When God opened her eyes to this, she immediately confessed it to the Lord, changed her mind and began to intentionally guard against the thoughts of lack by setting her mind on the truth of who God is and what she has in Christ. Afterward, the burden she had been feeling was lifted.

There have still been plenty of temptations to feel lack, but this taught us both to overcome by not entertaining any thoughts of lack (even the thoughts that wonder, “why am I feeling this way?”) through purposefully setting our minds on the truth that God has given us everything we need for life in Christ.
