Instruments of Righteousness

godly perspectives

Do not present your members to sin as instruments for unrighteousness, but present yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life, and your members to God as instruments for righteousness. Romans 6:13

Often times people think  presenting your members to God as instruments of righteousness only speaks of what you do with your hands and feet. Lately we’ve been thinking, aren’t your mouth and mind also part of your members?

We all must be diligent to present our minds and mouths to God as instruments of righteousness. A practical way to do this is to grow in guarding our thoughts and declaring the truth.

Guarding each thought is mandatory for any believer who wants to walk in daily victory. This has revolutionized our life and brought abundant freedom and joy!

One reason guarding your thoughts is so important, is because a barrage of thoughts come into the human mind each day, and it is essential to understand that you can grow to a place in Christ where you only believe thoughts of truth and the lies are disregarded. That does not necessarily mean that the lies stop. The lies may continue to come, but what has happened is the stronghold of lies has been eradicated in your mind and replaced with the stronghold of God’s Word and truth. Whenever lies try and enter in, they will be destroyed. This is what Paul spoke of,

“We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ.”
2 Corinthians 10:5

Here is an example of approaching God confidently and offering your mind and mouth as instruments of righteousness…

Father, I thank you that you raised me from death to life and I am no longer condemned – you have given me right standing with you through Christ. I offer my mind, my mouth and every part of me to you for right living, right thinking and right acting. I thank you that I don’t have to regard myself according to human weakness, but I trust that Holy Spirit is with me and your grace abounds through righteousness and leads me to know you and be like you more and more. In Jesus name, amen.
